The fifth anniversary of the "Palmah" commemorated by this stamp, issued in February 1992, features the emblem of the Palmah, a sword entrenched between two full, golden ears of corn. On the tab a verse from the Palmah song is written in white Hebrew letters against a blue background. The stamp expresses the Palmah's close link with the values of the Kibbutzim movement in Eretz Israel, resulting in high ethical standards of those units in battle. The word "Palmah" is an abbreviation for "peluggot mahaz" - Assult Companies, the permanently mobilised striking force of the "Hagana", the Jewish Self-Defence Forces. Both Hagana and Palmah have played an important role in the re-establishment of the State of Israel.
The stamp with an information sheet are enclosed in a plastic protection sheet
